MOUNT BAKER SCENIC BYWAY WELCOME CENTER PROJECT - Kendall, WA (2009 - Current)

Reference: Mount Baker Foothills Chamber of Commerce , Phil Cloward: 360-599-1738

This project includes all surveying, engineering, and permitting necessary to widen an existing, two-lane section of Mount Baker Highway for a planned tourist center. The majority of the project lies within existing State right-of-way and required detailed coordination with the WSDOT on Federal funding, right-of-way, design deviations, stormwater management, and construction administration activities. Work efforts include relocation of existing utilities, installation of stormwater collection and conveyance systems, construction of an eastbound right-turn lane, and installation of minor safety and landscape features. This project showcases our ability to effectively plan and successfully manage and design a project in collaboration with multiple public agencies.

PIERCE COUNTY CENTRAL MAINTENANCE FACILITY - Shelton, WA (2009)

Reference: Pierce County Public Works, Brian Ziegler : 253-798-4050

This project provided CA/CM efforts to construct seven buildings on a 30-acre site in Fredrickson. The buildings included mechanics shops, car wash, fuel station, as well as Class A office space. The project had several environmental commitments to meet and was awarded a Silver LEED rating. This project presented many challenges with a very proactive contractor. Though many opportunities for conflict were introduced, the project was ultimately completed with all items resolved to the satisfaction of both the owner and the contractor. The project was successfully delivered and accepted with no reservations. Project Budget: +/- $30M.

SQUAXIN ISLAND TRIBE BOAT LAUNCH REPLACMENT - Shelton, WA (2011)

Reference: Squaxin Island Tribal Public Works, Kevin Dragon : 360-432-3901

This project provided for removal of an existing failed boat launch facility and reconstructing it with new precast concrete panels. The projects challenges included both stringent environmental compliance requirements in a marine environment with heavy marine equipment including barge mounted crane. Given its location at Arcadia Point the project also had a high risk for recovery of archaeological objects. All excavations were completed under the close watch of Tribal Archeologists. The project was successfully delivered on time and at budget. Just as important the project was also delivered with no conflict.

BELLINGHAM WATERFRONT REDEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT PROJECT - Bellingham, WA (2009)

Reference: City of Bellingham Public Works, Rory Routhe: 360-778-7900

We were selected by the City of Bellingham to provide engineering design review, project delivery, and contract management of three transportation projects including the Cornwall Bridge, BNSF Railroad Relocation, and the Central Avenue Improvements projects. We managed and carefully coordinated these projects to meet potential stimulus funding deadlines. Specific tasks included project scoping, consultant coordination, contract review, and project management. The total project covers over 200 acres and has an infrastructure cost exceeding $50 million. This project showcases our ability to effectively manage confined schedules, constrained budgets, and diverse consultant resources.

GUEMES ISLAND FERRY TERMINAL EXPANSION AND SITE IMPROVEMENTS - Anacortes, WA (2010)

Reference: Skagit County Public Works, David Walde: 360-336-9400

This project was constructed by Skagit County with Dave Mariano providing CA/CM support and oversight for construction documentation. The project removed the existing ferry terminal building and constructed a new two story facility housing Ferry Operations and Maintenance as well as a new ticket office and passenger lobby. The project was funded by Federal Aid ARRA funds and received a post construction audit with no findings noted. For the project, Skagit County was recognized for its accurate record keeping and for meeting the Federal requirements for ARRA funds. The follow-up dolphin and wingwall repair project was constructed by Skagit County with Dave Mariano providing similar construction oversight, inspection, and CA/CM support. The project provided repairs and replacement of wingwalls and dolphins on both the north and south terminals. This included shutdown of the ferry service, coordination of vessel repairs, establishment of a substitute passenger-only service, as well as construction of the new facilities within a marine environment.

10TH STREET SEWER RELOCATION PROJECT - Bellingham, WA (2010)

Reference: City of Bellingham Public Works, Rory Routhe: 360-778-7900

This project’s goal was to advance a public sanitary sewer relocation project on private property in the Fairhaven District of Bellingham. The project proposed to relocate the City’s active 15-inch sewer line that restricted the site’s development potential. Complexities of the project resolved during the project included longstanding tideland misinterpretations, complex utility engineering design, permit collaboration between multiple City departments, and difficult construction planning within City regulated critical areas and the City’s Interurban Trail. Project Budget: $150,000.
